I am so excited to have this opportunity to travel to Nicaragua with Strong Harvest. While this trip is only a few weeks away, this journey began many years ago...

Before my senior year of high school I had the good fortune of being able to travel with an organization called Amigos de las Americas to Costa Rica and participate in a community health project to improve the lives of those living in a small village. Ever since then, I have had a passion for the people and culture of Latin America.

After becoming a nurse, I have dreamed about traveling to other countries to help people in need. Raising kids and working full time meant that this dream would have to wait a while.

I first heard about Strong Harvest few years ago when we joined Compass Church in Vancouver. Strong Harvest empowers families in the developing world to meet their own most basic needs - nutritious food, clean water, and economic opportunity - right in their own backyards. They do this by sharing their knowledge of an amazing nutritional source called the moringa tree.

When I heard about the work of Strong Harvest, I knew that this was something I wanted to be a part of. At that time, a team was traveling to Haiti and the timing again wasn't right with my other obligations. So when they announced a few weeks ago that they were in need of team members to join them on a trip in July to Nicaragua, I knew this was the trip I was meant to take.

I would be extremely grateful if you would help me to partner with Strong Harvest and go to Nicaragua this July to teach people about the amazing moringa tree. Our team will travel to Nicaragua July 18th through the 29th and teach, mentor and assist families to plant this wonderful tree.

If you can help me out, I would be ecstatic! Even the smallest donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal. Any funds raised beyond my needs will go towards Strong Harvest's work in Nicaragua. If you can't donate, that is ok. I would still love prayers and positive thoughts from all of you. This is going to be a life-changing trip for me, but more importantly for the incredible people of Nicaragua.
